Ben Haddock

Ben began diving in 1998 whilst still in his mid teens during a family holiday and has been hooked ever since. After completing his Open Water certification, he quickly began working part time whilst at school for Dive Perfect.

After being offered a traineeship in Sport & Recreation (Retail) with Dive Perfect, Ben left school at the end of year 11 and began working full time for Dive Perfect as a trainee manager assisting in the operation of the dive shop, school and dive charter boat. During this time Ben obtained his certification in Scuba Equipment Maintenance and repairs whilst also discovering his interest in and specialising in deep diving and night diving.

Upon completion of his year 12 VCE at night school and his traineeship in Sport & Recreation with Dive Perfect; Ben also began working part time with Dive Perfect’s sister company “East West Dive & Salvage”

In August 2003 Ben commenced work with Aussie Dive Instruction in Rowville managing the day-to-day operations of the store and in October achieved certification as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor and Emergency First Aid Instructor.

Following the acquisition of Academy of Scuba in Glen Iris by Aussie Dive Instruction, the company began an expansion program in which Ben was placed in charge of managing the establishment of a training and retail presence in Rye on the Mornington Peninsula which once opened he would later become branch & service manager.

In late 2004 Ben identified a market for a third party service and repair provider of recreational and commercial diving equipment and established Scuba Maintenance Services as part of his company Specialist Technical Solutions which already provided technical services to the gaming and managed vendor services industry to clients such as Tattersalls, IBM and the Woolworths group contracting to EGM Tech and Bytecraft Systems.

In June 2007 Ben moved into a Project Management and Technical Support role with Bytecraft Systems; again allowing him to utilise his skills and interests in resource management, documentation as well as training and development.

At this time, Ben also decided to finally follow one of his dreams of starting his own Adventure Sports company and established metroDIVE; a company specialising in providing training, sales, tours and support to the Adventure Sports industry specialising in SCUBA, Snorkelling and Watersports.
